Melanie's NotesMelanie's Notes

Thank you for visiting the R2B2 Racing website. At this point we are halfway through the NHRA season and the teams are trying to get a handle on the hot weather and tricky track conditions that come along with this time of the year. Crew chiefs tend to be better at tuning the cars in either the hot conditions or the cooler ones. Because of this, you may see a swing of momentum towards those tuners that are more comfortable getting down a "greasy" track. On top of that, in just a few weeks they will set out on the "Western Swing", a three race period that seems to set the pace for teams trying to make the cutoff for the "Countdown to the Championship". This can be one of the most exciting times of the year and this season looks to be no exception.

On the ProMod front, R2B2 Racing keeps bringing home trophies from the "Get Screened America" ProMod Challenge. In St. Louis, team owner, Roger Burgess won the event from the #2 qualifying position. He brought home the win light with a .018 holeshot in the final round. At the most recent event in Englishtown, New Jersey, R2B2 driver Raymond Commisso took the #1 qualifying position, won the event, and set a new record for the class running the ¼ mile in 5.85 seconds in the final. That was the quickest side by side pass in NHRA ProMod history. I think that was the best race of the entire weekend.

On the subject of ProMod, I have been testing one of Roger's cars and ran it in Englishtown. We qualified the car in the #10 spot but lost in the 1st round. The two qualifying passes were actually my first two runs to the finish line in a ProMod car. It's amazing how different these cars are from the Nitro Funny Car. I'm getting through the learning curve and having a blast at the same time. We plan on running the car a couple of times in July and I'm sure we will have a better handle on it by then.

Now don't confuse the fact that I am driving a ProMod car with a lack of desire to get the Funny Cars back on track. In fact we have been working hard at finding the right partners to make that happen. I am excited to say that we are making progress and could have some good news before long. Don't forget to check back in often to see what's new with R2B2 Racing.
